Welcome to our luxury escape in North Devon.

Off the beaten track yet within easy reach of local pubs, The Gamekeeper’s Cottage is a self catering retreat for solo adventurers or couples looking for a romantic luxury getaway in North Devon, close to Dartmoor and the beautiful North Devon beaches. 

During the day open up the French doors and relax in the garden on luxury sun loungers, listen to the bird song and enjoy the peace and quiet. In the evening snuggle up in front of the fire pit in the garden or in the cosy sitting room in front of the log burner.

Bedroom

The light filled bedroom has a King size bed from Loaf with a 3000 sprung pocket natural mattress. There is 100 percent cotton bedding from Feather and Black. Snuggle under the feather and down duvet drift off to sleep on the feather and down pillows for a peaceful, refreshing sleep.  To complete the ambiance of the room, the furnishings include an antique painted French wardrobe and cupboard offering plenty of space for all your clothes while you stay.

There is underfloor heating and floor length curtains at both windows. One window looks out across the vegetable garden and the other window looks out across the valley towards Buckland House. The perfect place to enjoy breakfast in bed or your morning coffee.

Bathroom

The luxury bathroom has a double ended roll top bath with a separate shower, toilet and sink. There are towelling robes and fluffy baths sheets with toiletries from Neals Yard and locally sourced products. The lanterns in the bathroom are perfect for a relaxing soak in the bath. 

There is underfloor heating to ensure that you don’t get cold after a long soak. 

 

 

Open Plan Living Area

After a day exploring the local area you can step through the front door into the welcoming open plan space ready to relax for the evening. 

There is a fully equipped kitchen to meet all your culinary needs. The dining area offers a table and chairs with a selection of crockery and linens to enjoy your meals. 

The sitting room area has a large sofa to give a comfortable  place to relax in. There are two antique painted cupboards which have games, books, picnic hamper and blanket, cool bag, glasses and crockery. Everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable stay. 

There is a log burner perfect for rainy evening with sustainably sourced logs from our woods. 

Lanterns and throws make for romantic evenings and underfloor heating ensures you will never be cold. 

The vaulted ceiling and French doors allow plenty of light to flood into the room and the pendant lights from Rowan and Wren give the room the ambiance for a relaxing holiday. The French doors lead out to a private patio and garden.

There is a 43″ 4K HD Sony Bravia TV to watch and there is internet throughout the cottage.

A picnic hamper, JBL portable bluetooth speaker, selection of games and local guides and information all of which can be found in the living room area.

Fully equipped kitchen with stove top coffee maker, milk brother, four ring induction hob, four slice toaster, Gorenje fridge freezer, dishwasher and full set of utensils.

The kitchen also has all of your essentials including locally sourced freshly ground coffee from Crediton Coffee Company, a selection of teas, range of herbs and spices and olive oil.

Outdoor Space

There is a private garden offering 2 patios to relax on. The patio at the rear of the cottage offers the perfect place to enjoy meals as it gets the sun all day. There is a rattan dining table and chairs to enjoy your meals looking out over the owners rear garden.

The second patio at the side of the cottage adjacent to the front door is where the wood fired hot tub is situated. Perfect for watching the stars and listening to the owls. 

There are sun loungers and parasols ready for a relaxing day in the garden. There are fire pits and a charcoal bbq ready for summer evenings and blankets for cooler evenings. There is also an Ooni pizza oven with 2 balls of homemade pizza dough supplied for your own wood fired pizzas.

The patios have pots of seasonal herbs and flowers grown by the owner. 

There is access to the owners garden with a separate vegetable garden and orchard. There is also 14 acres of private woodland to enjoy.

All fuel for the bbq, fire pits, pizza oven and hot tub are supplied for your stay.

Wood Fired Hot Tub

A wood fired hot tub is available all year round. Logs are supplied. It is power washed, disinfected and filled with fresh water after every guests stay. If here for a week the water is changed half way through your stay. Chemicals are added at the beginning of your stay and the water is checked each day.

We're in an ideal spot to explore the Devon beaches and Dartmoor with its many walks, wild swimming spots, pony trekking & cycle tracks nearby.

Use our premium complimentary products to relax in our luxurious roll top bath for a long soak.

We have a fire pit available for those looking for a cosy fire on an evening, this also doubles up as a BBQ. We also have an Ooni pizza oven and home made pizza dough is provided in the freezer.
